Author's Profile

Kevin Willam Grant

I am a native of Nottingham England and spent my early years living in Berlin (Germany), Kansas City (U.S.A.), and finally settled in Toronto Canada. These formative life experiences of traveling the world had a lasting effect and exposed me to many different cultures.

In 1992 I completed a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on cognitive psychology and the how metaphors are used in counselling and psychology to enhance communication between the client and mental health professional.

During my clinical psychology training, I counseled students at the Counselling and Development Centre at York University in Toronto and specialized in counseling LGBT students grappling with “coming out” and self-acceptance. Continuing my Ph.D. education at York University further expanding my clinical psychology skills.

In the 2000s and 2010s I managed teams at Microsoft, Mozilla, Bell Canada and TD Bank. The many years of experience in the corporate world gave me the experience and insight that formed the foundation of this book.

In 2012 I integrated my background in psychology with information technology and completed a Post-Graduate Health Informatics Certificate at George Brown College in Toronto.

By 2018 I exited the corporate world and return to my clinical counseling, coaching, and psychology roots.

Returned to the field of mental health recovery at age 51 became an essential part of my recovery journey. During my corporate career I have experienced workplace bullying, abusive managers, and toxic work environments. An essential element of my recovery from workplace PTSD was the therapeutic process of writing this book and committing my thoughts, experiences, and recovery to paper.

I hope you find the thoughts, ideas, and exercises in this book valuable for your recovery. This book comes from a place of love and respect for everyone that has experienced workplace abuse and trauma.
